Axel Music is an entertainment retail chain based in Denmark, with warehouses and distribution centres in Canada, United States, France, and Germany. It also maintains online websites for customers worldwide. In February 2001 the company formed Lake Shore Distribution in Canada and launched Axelmusic.com. In April 2006 it was one of the first online stores to offer HD DVD, followed by Blu-ray in June of that year. As of 2009 it operates a network of warehouses to fulfill orders taken on its internet sites and 8 separate locations throughout Denmark for its Danish customers. Since 18 June 2012, PlanetAxel is bankrupt. It is with great sadness, deep regret and utter embarrassment that we announce the closure and bankruptcy of PlanetAxel.com On Monday afternoon, 18 June 2012 the board of directors have informed us that no further investment will be made in the company.
